Identiti Portugis

Melaka adalah satu-satunya negeri yang mempunyai penempatan Portugis yang diasaskan pada tahun 1930. Penduduknya menamakan tempat ini Padre Sua Chang (Tanah Paderi) sempena dengan pengasasnya. Masyarakat yang tinggal di sini adalah orang Eurasia berketurunan Portugis yang hidup sebagai nelayan. Orang Portugis mengamalkan agama Katolik dan bercakap bahasa Cristang atau Cristao.
Kaum Portugis di Melaka menyediakan kehidupan tradisional, bahasa, adat resam dan musik yang ternyata unik. Tariannya yang paling popular adalah Beranyo dan Frapeirra. Festival Kristian juga di sambut dengan hebat termasuk Hari Krismas, Pesta San Pedra dan Easter.

Perkampungan Portugis

Perkampungan Portugis juga dikenali sebagai Mini Lisbon. Ia terletak berdekatan Portuguese Settlement dimana terdapat pelbagai keunikan budaya terutamanya ketika mereka meraikan festival tertentu.

Penempatan Portugis, Melaka

Dataran Portugis terletak di Penempatan Portugis, lebih kurang 3 kilometer dari bandar Melaka. Ia dibina pada akhir tahun 80an dan diilhamkan oleh mercado Portugis. Dataran ini digelar sebagai ‘Lisbon kecil’.

Dataran ini terkenal untuk restorannya yang menyajikan masakan hasil laut contohnya ikan panggang daun pisang berempah. Setiap petang Sabtu, persembahan budaya akan diadakan di dataran ini yang mana anda dapat melihat penari di dalam baju tradisional menghiburkan pelawat dengan tarian-tariannya.
